Bio
After fleeing my Idaho hometown I attended Antioch College and College of Santa Fe, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Elementary Education. While bouncing around five states and traveling over four continents, I've worked with children as an au pair and daycare aide, and taught or substitute taught every elementary grade from Kindergarten to 6th grade. I also ran a leftist circle called Crafty Progressives in college and once worked at a very disorganized anarchist library, among other things.
Other adventures include performing trapeze and lyra hoop acts in New Mexico in 2005-2006, particularly with the Femme-o-lition Derby. A devout Buddhist for more than half my life, I cooked for Sravasti Abbey’s annual winter retreat in 2008. Sravasti Abbey is one of the only Buddhist monastic communities for Westerners in the world.
I now live, work, and write in Berkeley, where I completed an editorial internship at Tikkun magazine. I teach preschool, co-organize a femme writers group, have a formerly feral lapdog, and live a lovely person who built our bookcases.
